Instructions:
1、Cast On: CO the desired number of stitches. This will become the bottom of your sweater.
2、Knit the Body: Begin knitting the body of the sweater using a simple stockinette stitch (K on the right side, P on the wrong side). Continue until the body is as long as you want it to be.
3、Shape the Sleeves: Once you’ve finished the body, start knitting the sleeves. To do this, CO the desired number of stitches and begin knitting in the round. After a certain number of rounds, start decreasing the number of stitches to shape the sleeve. When you’re happy with the sleeve’s shape, BO and cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing up the sleeve later.
4、Sew Up the Sleeve: Take the long tail from step 3 and use it to sew up the sleeve, matching the ends of the sleeve together and stitching them tightly. When you’re done sewing, tie a knot at the end of the tail to secure it.
5、Repeat for the Other Sleeve: CO another set of stitches for the other sleeve and repeat steps 3 and 4. When you’re done with both sleeves, move on to the next step.
6、Finish the Top of the Sweater: CO a set of stitches for the top of the sweater and knit it using a simple stockinette stitch. When it’s as long as you want it to be, BO and cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing up the top later.
7、Sew Up the Top: Take the long tail from step 6 and use it to sew up the top of the sweater, matching the ends together and stitching them tightly. When you’re done sewing, tie a knot at the end of the tail to secure it.
8、Weave in Ends: Use a tapestry needle to weave in all of the loose ends from your knitting. This will help to give your sweater a cleaner and more finished look.
9、Enjoy Your Cashmere Sweater: Once you’ve finished all of these steps, you can relax and enjoy your hand-knit cashmere sweater! It’s sure to keep you warm and cozy all winter long.
Tips and Tricks:
Make sure to use a cashmere yarn that is suitable for knitting; some cashmere yarns are not as strong or durable as others and may not hold up well in a sweater.
When knitting with cashmere, it’s important to use a tapestry needle to weave in your ends because cashmere is such a soft and delicate fiber that it can easily be damaged by sharp scissors or needles. By using a tapestry needle, you can gently weave in your ends without damaging the fiber or your work.
