One day, while the family was away, a small hole appeared in the curtain. It was so small that no one noticed it at first, but as time went on, the hole grew larger and larger. Soon, it was big enough to fit a small hand. The family became curious and decided to investigate.
They found that the hole was caused by a tiny mouse that had taken up residence in the house. The mouse had gnawed its way through the curtain material, making the hole bigger and bigger each day. The family was fascinated by this little creature and decided to let it stay, providing it didn't cause any more trouble.
However, the mouse didn't seem to understand that it was allowed to stay, and it continued to gnaw away at the curtain. The hole grew larger and larger, until one day, the family could no longer stand it. They decided to take action and find a way to stop the mouse from destroying their beautiful curtain.
They tried various methods, including trapping the mouse and trying to cover the hole with patches of cloth. But nothing seemed to work. The mouse was too smart and too determined to be caught, and the patches of cloth were just too ugly to cover up the beautiful curtain. The family was at a loss as to what to do.
Then, one day, while the father was working on a project in the garage, he stumbled upon an old piece of lace that he had forgotten about. It was beautiful and delicate, just like the curtain. He had no idea how it could be useful, but he knew that it was pretty and could probably be used to cover up the hole in the curtain.
He took the lace back to the house and sewed it carefully over the hole in the curtain. It looked beautiful and provided instant privacy. The family was delighted with the result and felt that their house was once again as charming as it had been before the mouse had moved in.
The mouse, however, was not so easily defeated. It continued to gnaw away at the curtain, even though it could no longer make a hole big enough to fit through. The family could hear it at night, scratching and gnawing away at the material. They were once again at a loss as to what to do.

She took the book of matchsticks back to the house and set it on top of the bookcase next to the window where the curtain hung. She knew that it was just a temporary solution, but it gave her some peace of mind at least for now. The mouse seemed to be fascinated by the book of matchsticks and soon stopped gnawing on the curtain so much.
From that day on, the family left their book of matchsticks on top of the bookcase next to the window where their beautiful curtain hung just in case they needed it again sometime down the line if something like this ever happened again they would know exactly what to do next time around .
